WE SAY
You may recognise Emeli Sandé's name from her credits as an in-demand collaborator and songwriter for the likes of Tinie Tempah and Professor Green. She scored two Top Ten hits with Chipmunk (as a co-writer on Diamond Rings) and Naughty Boy ft. Wiley (on Never Be Your Woman). The 24-year-old's debut solo single on Virgin arrives with an expansive blend of luscious strings over trip hop beats - all helped along by her striking vocal. Heaven has had an 8-week upfront addition to playlists at Global, Kiss B list and 1Xtra B list, with further support from Mista Jam, Zane Lowe and Jo Whiley. Emeli was the sole support to Alicia Keys at her Royal Albert Hall show earlier this month and plays a number of summer festivals. An intriguing one to watch for the summer and beyond. JF
