If you were wandering around Brighton during The Great Escape this year you may have spotted the legendary Sire Records boss Seymour Stein soaking up the atmosphere too. He was in town supporting his recent signings, North Carolina six-piece Delta Rae. Famous for being the man who brought The Ramones, The Undertones and Madonna to his great label, his latest act plays soulful, blues-tinged rock and pop and this instantly-appealing song comes from their latest album After It All. Crisp, clean production is expertly delivered by Rob Cavello (noted for his work with Fleetwood Mac & Green Day) along with Peter Katis (who’s worked with The National and Interpol). Following on from recent gigs at Camden’s Barfly and two brilliantly-received TGE shows, they play the North Stage at Liverpool Sound City tomorrow (May 22). Solidly-packed with glorious hooks and soaring harmonies, it’s often said that great music is timeless and never goes out of style. This sublime song from Delta Rae proves that just so perfectly.
