WE SAY

The Blower's Daughter - the best of several amazing tracks from Damien's album - was our first ever Record of the Week. We'd like to say that was the start of the massive word of mouth on this album but actually it began in Damien's native Ireland, where he's already a major artist. He's managed by Mondo, was signed by Christian Tattersfield as soon as his 14th Floor label was up and running, and is with Jack Rovner's new Vector label in the US, all three of whom were involved in David Gray (who also started out with success in Ireland). This is his first single and one small TV ad based around it has instantly propelled his album towards the UK top 40. A very special artist who's our no.1 omission from the Mercury shortlist.
