WE SAY

Today’s Ones To Watch 2024 is the emerging rock duo Baby Said. Formed by Italian/Punjabi teenage sisters Veronica (19 – guitars/vocals) and Jess (17 – bass guitar/vocals) Pal, the duo have been playing guitar since they were six and four. In 2021, they decided to start busking around the streets of Portsmouth playing covers, where they were spotted by local promoters and booked to play across venues on the south coast. Since then, with over 200 gigs behind them, they’ve signed with Big Hug Management earlier this year and quickly went into the studio to record their debut album with the likes of Damon Minchella (Chappaqua Wrestling), Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, Dandy Warhols) and Lewis Gardiner (Twin Atlantic). Last month, they dropped this, their debut single, a punchy blast of infectious pop-rock produced by Gethin Pearson (Bloc Party, Walt Disco). On release, Apple Music placed the track heavily across their rock playlists in the UK, Italy and on their global playlist, The New Rock (No.2), while Deezer added it to their Girls Rock playlists and Vevo included it in their Rock Central playlist. At radio, BBC Introducing has been a big supporter with several spins. Having been picked up by Måneskin’s agent Lucia Wade after she heard early demos, the duo played Live Nation’s Source showcase at the end of November and are now in the process of booking shows for the early part of next year and summer festivals. With a debut album already recorded and their next single, ‘You Killed It’, set to be released in February (it’s good), alongside a powerful live presence, everything is ready for Baby Said to have a breakout 2024. Yes, it is still relatively early for the teenage sisters, but with their raw energetic sound, powerful vocals and determination to succeed, we believe they have everything to become a hit.
