Albin Lee Meldau
The Weight Is Gone

Astralwerks / Caroline International

WE SAY

Headlining the Omeara in London tonight is Swedish sensation Albin Lee Meldau, a singer-songwriter from Gothenburg who we have been following since he released the beautifully heart wrenching single, Lou Lou, back in early 2016. The Weight Is Gone is the gloriously arresting soul-soaked dance-pop number that has been gracing the Radio 2 A-List over the past couple of weeks since its release when it featured on 19 Spotify New Music Friday playlists. Like Lou Lou, Albin exquisitely weaves raw emotion and humanity as he lays bare the heartache and strain of confronting an unfaithful partner. From the stabs of reverb-heavy guitar and the Ronson-like mashup of beats and sweeping strings, this is another powerfully emotive gem with echoes of Gnarls Barkley-esque production. His debut album, About You, will be released in June and after his show in London, he will be performing on Zoe Ball On Saturday ITV1 TV show before setting off to support Jessie Ware on her North America tour dates. Last year he was nominated for Best Newcomer at Sweden’s Grammy’s Awards and has garnered tastemaker support from the likes of NPR, Mahogany, Indie Shuffle, and Hilly Dilly among others. Quite simply, Albin Lee Meldau is a breathtaking artist and troubadour who is set to become a household name.
