The F-List Youth Industry Network to Empower Young Women and Gender Diverse Individuals in Music – Application Deadline Extended to 8th May 2025
The F-List for Music is proud to announce the launch of the Youth Industry Network, a pioneering initiative aimed at supporting young women and gender diverse individuals aged 16-25 who are embarking on careers in the music industry. This project is backed by Youth Music, thanks to the People's Postcode Lottery, with additional sponsorship from Festival Republic.
Who: The F-List for Music, a UK-based non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting gender equality in the music industry, in collaboration with Youth Music. The programme is led by Mimi Harmer, an award-winning creative producer and sound designer, with a background in music, tech, education, and the cultural sector. Mimi says:
“Having The F-List be one of the first organisations to build upon Youth Music's Industry Connect Coalition is a really powerful opportunity to amplify the voices of emerging female and gender minority artists in our local music networks, and to build a more safe, inclusive, connected, and creatively vibrant industry from the ground up. I'm really proud to be a small part of it.”
What: The Youth Industry Network is a comprehensive programme designed to provide emerging music professionals (artists, crew or those in business roles) with the tools, knowledge, and networks necessary to navigate and succeed in the music industry. Participants will benefit from:
-
Mentorship: Guidance from experienced industry professionals.
-
Workshops: Skill-building sessions covering various aspects of the music business.
-
Networking Events: Opportunities to connect with peers and industry leaders.
-
Resources: Access to educational materials and industry insights.
Where: The programme will be delivered through a mix of online and in-person sessions, with local activity hubs in Croydon, Wolverhampton, and Darlington. Applicants do not need to live in these areas but must be able to travel to the location they apply for. The programme will be delivered by Local Leads:
-
Alex Ampofo – Croydon Lead
Live Music Promoter at Live Nation and founder of Women Connect, Alex brings expertise in touring and building safe, inclusive creative spaces. -
Emily Jones – Wolverhampton Lead
Also known as Echo Juliet, Emily is a producer and inclusion-focused coach who supports emerging electronic artists and facilitates peer learning groups. -
Sarah Wilson – Darlington Lead
Co-founder of Tracks CIC, Sarah is a musician and event producer who supports local artists and champions women and non-binary creatives.
When: Applications are now open and the deadline has been extended to 8th May 2025. The programme will begin in June 2025 and run for 12 months.
Application form: https://forms.gle/KRsfyJzJva5kk6HA8
Why: The F-List recognises the underrepresentation and unique challenges faced by young women and gender diverse individuals in the music industry.
