From 25 to 29 September 2019, Paris Electronic Week will celebrate its 7th edition and take over the capital with a plethora of events in clubs, record shops and ephemeral venues of all kinds. A hybrid and multidisciplinary festival, PEW is once again offering three more intensive days of trade fairs from Wednesday, September 25 to Friday, September 27. It is at the Gaité Lyrique that conferences, workshops and masterclasses will follow one another with a programme dedicated to electronic music and cultures.

After revealing its first panels questioning the coherence of a line-up; the place of the audiovisual performances and stagecraft; and the role of the networks and playlists; Paris Electronic Week reveals a new wave of panels and speakers.

1. Life is not a game
Conference on September 25, 2019

There is a reason why the people who make music for games tend to be specialised in that area... because it is not like other forms of synchronisation. First you need to be a gamer, to understand the dynamics and relevance of certain scenes and situations, and to be able to leverage all that gaming action into music that makes scenes more exciting, more real and more visceral. This in-depth panel features a group of experts who will be explaining their craft and showing examples of a scene before and after it has had the music added.

Speakers:MaryLockwoodProductions,TBA,TBA,TBA

2. The Attention Economy - Mental Health Focus

3. Maximise Your Income:Be Your Own Publisher
Conference on September 26, 2019

The days when you needed to sign away your IP rights are, to some degree at least, over. Or let’s say that modern artists do have genuine choices as to whether they work with labels and publishers or go it alone. But what are the responsibilities that you take on if you decide to administer your own rights? What basic moves do you need to know about to make sure you are not throwing money away, and how can you ensure that you have everything covered in terms of new legislation and multiple income streams?

Speakers: TBA, TBA, TBA, TBA

4. Pro-Active Sync & Publishers - the New A&R Frontier
Conference on September 26, 2019

There used to be a time when publishers were regarded as passive, unworried about talent nurturing and mainly interested in collecting their share. But these days most publishers invest time and considerable amounts of money in promising talent, in much the same way that major labels used to do. They actively search for hot new acts and offer all kinds of support to help them realise their potential. But how should you approach them and what do they expect from you? How do you keep their interest and avoid wasting their time? What do you need to do to make sure your talent is as obvious as possible to people who are receptive but also very time-pressured?

Speakers: PWFM Sync,BuddeMusic, SonyATV,TBA

5. Balancing Diversity & Inclusion for Commercial Success
Conference on September 27, 2019

From festival line-ups to conference speakers and choices made by employers, our panel of experts will seek to discuss the need for diversity and inclusion across all aspects of our industry and explore what success looks like in this area.

Speakers : ADE, InChorus, TBA, TBA

6. New Shotgun website: the digital video experience at the heart of event discovery
Workshop on September 25, 2019

How will the trailer of your future event look? If other entertainment sectors such as audio and video streaming sites, have already grasped the essential place of digital platforms in the way that the audience discovers content, the event sector seems late on the subject. Most ticketing and distribution sites often use banner-based advertising templates, flyers, or pop-ups, all formats that are seen today as intrusive, or even as spam. Based on a video presentation and customisation of content according to the expectations of the public, the content of the new Shotgun site offers a revolutionary and immersive experience for the event sector. No more texts and old-fashioned presentations, instead a dynamic trailer that expresses the real identity of each event, a digital prelude to the physical experience during the event.
Speakers: Shotgun

8. OVERACT: An innovative pre-financing solution for live shows
Workshop on September 26, 2019

OVERACT is an effective, innovative and secure pre-financing solution for live shows and more broadly for all activities involving ticketing. This system was conceived by the company founder working alongside experienced players from the live scene, and is based on a thorough knowledge of production mechanisms and the real needs of professionals. The OVERACT pre-financing events program allows a producer to collect the cash needed to produce an event between 3 and 10 months before the show, without taking a loan. It is the only innovative solution involved in the pre-financing of a show or an event that does not invest in production. The OVERACT model has been certified as part of the participative and solidarity economy.

Speakers: OVERACT

9. Everyday Magic - 24 Hours in the Life of a Programmer

10. Sync Star
Workshop on September 27, 2019

Unless you are one of a very small percentage of musicians who can earn a living from streaming revenue, you really ought to be considering how to get into composing music for films, adverts and TV. In this hands-on workshop, established composers of music for media share tips and advice about how to start making music that compliments and enhances moving images. Our panelists will be mining deep into the essence of this very specialised style of creativity in order to unlock the doors that lead towards a whole new kind of career.
