Music Climate Pact invites tenders for its climate training programme 15 Aug 2025
Proposals to be submitted by Monday 15th September 2025 – brief available on application
The Music Climate Pact (MCP) – the global recorded music industry's platform that advocates for positive action to sustainably reduce its impact on the environment – today invites tenders to develop and implement a programme of 'climate training' for its Signatory and Supporter members.
The Music Climate Pact has been set up jointly by the Association of Independent Music (AIM) and UK record labels association the BPI, and includes independent labels and major music groups among its Signatories and environmental campaigning organisations across its Supporter base (see Notes).
The Music Climate Pact Signatories and Supporters are working to achieve progress across a number of priorities, which, alongside the proposed climate training, include a focus on improved understanding of the impact physical manufacture and digital consumption has on the environment, so that sustainable solutions can be developed to reduce this.
The MCP is now seeking commercial organisations with a proven track record in specialist training that can design, deliver, and host a comprehensive and cost-effective sustainability training programme for professionals across the recorded music industry.
A full brief will be supplied on enquiry, but the first phase of programme design should include modules that are inclusive to access and are tailored to physical production and distribution, communication and marketing, and artist support in these areas. Upon successful completion, future phases will be rolled out. There are also plans for a high-impact hybrid launch activation that will engage and inspire participants.
Elizabeth Griffin, BMG Senior Manager ESG & Sustainability, and Co-Chair of the Music Climate Pact Working Group on Climate Training, said:
"The Pact's Signatories and Supporters are committed to unlocking and delivering meaningful change that will see the music community operate ever-more sustainably in reducing its impact on the environment. A fundamental element of this has to be the industry's workforce having the knowledge they need to make informed decisions that build climate impact and best-practise into their thinking and actions. We are excited to initiate this tender process and look forward to receiving proposals that will enable us to take this important work forward."
Roxy Erickson, Project Manager of the Music Climate Pact, said:
"To create the swift and urgent transition that scientists are clear is needed, and to ensure that the music industry is able to meet ongoing environmental requirements and stay ahead of new legislation, our industry colleagues need to be empowered and informed to do their roles most sustainably. By creating this training, the Music Climate Pact is prioritising the parts of the industry that can create the most positive impact and enabling knowledge-sharing and understanding so that our workforce can support an industry that has longevity and future music fans at its heart."
The MCP is looking for the first two modules to be delivered and beta-tested by Autumn, enabling a Q4 launch, with further modules to be delivered for the first half of 2026 that will support those with roles in Finance, Legal, Licensing & HR, and Transformation Management/C-Suite.
Included in the design and delivery should be reporting; live virtual/on-demand options; educational literature to support training; and updates and refresher content as required throughout the year.
The total project duration is expected to span 12 months from appointment in the first instance, with a view to making it a permanent feature of MCP signatory training programmes in the future.
Those tendering should propose a budget breakdown inclusive of:
- content development; programme delivery;
- training to be arranged/hosted;
- project management;
- and reporting.
Tenders will be evaluated based on experience and track record, as well as an understanding of the music industry, and the cost-effective creation of engaging content that is also scalable, accessible, and inclusive of the solution.
Proposals should further include a company profile and case studies; a proposed approach/methodology; timeline/key milestones; and contact details for references.
Interviews will take place in September for those shortlisted, with the successful bidder likely to be confirmed in early-mid October 2025.
All submissions to be made to Roxy Erickson roxy@musicclimatepact.com by Monday September 15th 2025 at 12.00pm BST.
