Mark Ronson, Cat Burns and Jake Bugg to perform at the MITS Award 2024 02 Oct 2024
MUSIC INDUSTRY TRUSTS AWARD IN HONOUR OF 2024 RECIPIENT JASON ILEY
PERFORMERS ANNOUNCED:
MARK RONSON
CAT BURNS
JAKE BUGG
This event supports the BRIT Trust and Nordoff & Robbins
Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK & Ireland Jason Iley MBE will receive this year's Music Industry Trusts Award (MITS), recognising his contribution to the British music industry. Today, we can reveal that Mark Ronson, Cat Burns and Jake Bugg will perform during the ceremony on Monday 4th November.
The evening will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in support of two vital UK music charities: The BRIT Trust, which is a core funder of The BRIT School, and music therapy charity Nordoff & Robbins.
This year's MITS Award ceremony will bring together some of the music industry's finest to pay tribute to Iley's career, with performances from trailblazing artists on his roster.
Leading the charge is the Oscar and Grammy-winning producer, DJ, and songwriter Mark Ronson. With 20 billion global streams, seven Grammys, two BRIT Awards and multi-platinum hits like 'Uptown Funk,' 'Valerie' and 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,' Ronson is one of the most successful musicians in contemporary British popular culture.
BRIT School alumni Cat Burns will also take the stage. Cat's double platinum hit 'Go' was the highest selling debut track of 2022. Through her authenticity and powerful songwriting, she has become one of the breakout artists of recent years. With 800 million global streams and three BRIT Award nominations, Cat is one of the most exciting young voices in British music. Cat's rise under Iley's leadership reflects his commitment to supporting new, genre-defying talent.
Cat Burns says: "I'm really excited to perform at the MITS. I'm so grateful to the BRIT School for my time there, and the funds raised through the event are vital in helping to find and nurture the next generation of creative talent."
Jake Bugg is also lined up to perform, with his signature style that has captivated fans for over a decade. Working with Jason throughout his career after signing to Mercury Records in 2011, Bugg has built a lasting legacy. Achieving more than 1.3 million album sales, 4 million track sales and with the release of his new album A Modern Day Distraction out this Friday (4th October), Bugg's performance will be another highlight of the night.
Jason has been Chairman at Sony Music UK for 10 years, making him the longest-serving Chairman in the British company's history. Since being appointed he has championed artists, diversified the company, refreshed Sony Music's roster and led acquisitions including Ministry of Sound Records in 2016.
Today, Jason oversees a roster that includes homegrown talent such as Calvin Harris, Paloma Faith, George Ezra, Robbie Williams, Rag'n'Bone Man and this year's breakthrough artists Central Cee and Myles Smith, as well as internationally signed stars like Beyoncé, Adele, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, SZA, P!NK and Foo Fighters.
Jason will join the ranks of previous MITS recipients including Annie Lennox OBE, Kylie Minogue, Rob Stringer CBE, Emma Banks, Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Sir Lucian Grainge, Michael Eavis CBE, Pete Tong MBE, and Roger Daltrey CBE, Jamal Edwards MBE, and last year's recipient, live music agent Lucy Dickins.
Celebrating its 32nd edition this year, the Music Industry Trusts Award is recognised as one of the benchmarks of achievement in the UK music business and continues to benefit hugely deserving causes year after year. The MITS Award supports two important charities, the BRIT Trust and Nordoff & Robbins, and is sponsored by ASM Global, PPL, SJM Concerts and YouTube.
