Marathon Music Group has announced three new artist partnerships, signalling a bold new A&R philosophy and vision for the company and re-emphasising its commitment to building a roster that encompasses a wide range of diverse music cultures.
Proven experts at amplifying creative vision and audience building Marathon Music Group, a wholly independent company, have long been pioneering innovative new ways of partnering with artists to create successful relationships that are flexible and bespoke to their individual needs. The company’s main focus remains helping artists build global audiences through investment in long-term development and international marketing campaigns.
Just some of the successful artists that Marathon Music Group work with include Courtney Barnett, POND, Afro B and Naira Marley to name only a few, with the company actively looking to add to its already acclaimed roster.
New Soil, the specialist jazz division of Marathon Music Group, which was launched in July in partnership with former Sony Music VP of Strategy Federico Bolza, has announced the signing of acclaimed tuba player and composer Theon Cross to a new recording agreement. As well as being a well-respected artist in his own right Theon Cross has worked with Kano, Stormzy, Moses Boyd, Seed Ensemble and others.
Marathon Artists, the company’s flagship label, has also unveiled the first two signings from Head of A&R Ophelia Conheady who joined the company in April.
All female four-piece Friedberg, who released their first single on Marathon Artists ‘Pass Me On’ last week, join the roster having already garnered a significant international fanbase. The band is fronted by UK based, Austrian born Anna Friedberg and have received impressive radio support across the UK & Europe while amassing over 7 million streams on their three releases to date . They have also received major syncs with Fifa, Normal People, Netflix show Biohackers, Fox Sports, BBC and more.
Marathon Artists has also announced the signing of musician, singer and artist, Lava La Rue who releases music both under her own name and as part of DIY, London-based collective NiNE8. Her debut single ‘Widdit’ released two years ago received widespread critical acclaim and led to a growing fanbase and millions of streams on her releases to date, and has seen her curate projects across the worlds of art, music and fashion including a show at Men’s Fashion Week, and a TATE Modern “LATE” takeover.
