Introducing the Artist Account to Boost Discoverability on TikTok 30 Nov 2023

Music discovery starts on TikTok. Every day, the creative community champions its favourite artists and sounds to success, which is why we're introducing the Artist Account to unlock even deeper discoverability on TikTok.
The Artist Account is a toolbox of features and promotional tools developed to forge a closer relationship between artist and fan on TikTok. Now available to every artist or musician that has released music, the Artist Account is the shop window for fans to learn more about your music, creative process and to discover the latest releases.
Discussing the Artist Account, Paul Hourican, Global Head of Music Partnerships & Programming at TikTok said "With the introduction of the Artist Account, we are proud to further empower artists by providing them with the tools they need to reach new heights on TikTok. Alongside new features like Add To Music App, we're seeing how these features can deepen engagement whilst creating unique opportunities for fans to connect with their favourite artists in meaningful ways, driving music discovery on the platform."
Upon activation, artists gain access to a suite of resources within the Artist Account, including:
- 'Artist' Tag
It's the simplest way to identify yourself as an artist on TikTok. This tag, which will sit underneath your account name, will signify to the community and potential new fans that you are an artist. You'll need four songs uploaded to be eligible for the tag.
- New Release
This tool ensures that new music releases receive the attention it deserves, amplifying their reach and impact on the platform. The feature allows artists to highlight a new track for up to 14 days before release, and for 30 days after release. The tag also highlights a New Release on discovery pages of catalogue sounds, allowing artists to drive further discovery of new music. This feature was first trialled in the summer by BTS, who capitalised on the feature to promote their single 'Take Two', so we're excited to see the feature being rolled out for TikTok's Artist account.

- Music Tab
The Music Tab will curate your catalogue for fans to easily access and discover your music on TikTok. This feature will also ensure new music is automatically added, making it easier for fans to engage seamlessly with the song.
- By Artist
The 'By Artist' feature enhances visibility by allowing an artist to pin a preferred post to the top of the discovery page, driving awareness to your favourite TikTok video, whether it's hyping a new release or trending clip.
- Behind the Song
Behind the Song enables artists to share the stories and inspirations behind their songs, fostering a deeper connection with fans. This product feature has already proved hugely popular, with artists like Cat Burns, Fred again.. & RAYE all jumping on board to share the stories behind some of their biggest successes.
