Hercules Awarded CES Best in Innovation for its Industry-First Wireless DJ Controller 07 Jan 2025
Developed in close collaboration with Algoriddim’s djay app
Hercules DJ, a known driver of innovation in the DJing and electronic music space, is making history again with its newest CES 2025 Innovation Award-winning product, the Hercules DJControl Mix Ultra.
Launching later this month, the Mix Ultra is the first mobile DJ controller that is entirely wireless and cable-free—created for mobile-first DJs who came up learning to embrace music mixing using apps and streaming services. This all new controller—developed in close collaboration with Algoriddim, the creators of the award-winning djay app—provides seamless integration with djay’s powerful mixing capabilities and streaming services such as Apple Music.
The Mix Ultra is not the only Hercules product to be a first-of-its-kind. For the past 20 years, Hercules has been a driving force for innovation, launching numerous products that have defined key elements of today’s DJ controller industry.
In 2003, the company released its DJ Console, the first all-in-one DJ controller with a built-in mixer. Previously, audio mixing controls were on a separate mixer, but the Hercules control format caught on. In 2011, Hercules unveiled the DJ Control Air, the first all-in-one DJ controller with drum pads and jog wheel sink detection. These features became an industry standard the following year, allowing DJs to differentiate between scratch mode and pitch bend mode on a job wheel.
In 2018, Hercules released the DJControl Inpulse 300, the first all-in-one DJ controller with beatmatch guides, built-in light guides to help aspiring DJs learn how to mix music seamlessly. CES named the DJControl Inpulse 300 as an honoree in its 2019 Innovation Awards.
Today at CES, Hercules unveiled its next innovation that responds to new DJs, who often come to DJing from streaming and phone apps, not crates of vinyl. The Hercules team observed that each year an increasing number of young DJs learn the intricacies of music mixing, music production, and playlist-making through mobile devices. Additionally, these up-and-comers don’t own music in the traditional sense but typically access music via streaming services. Hercules built a brand new controller from the ground up to cater to these digital-first DJs whose music world lives on their phones.
“Hercules has a proud history of innovation and this is just another step of progress to serve the electronic music community,” says Tim Gorham, North America Marketing Director at Hercules DJ. “Technology and music are so mobile-focused nowadays, so that’s how DJs are coming up. The Mix Ultra is purpose-built for the next generation of DJs and designed to be compatible with the way they discover and engage with music.”
