Schnappi
Schnappi
WE SAY
We don't pretend to fully understand the Schnappi phenomenon, but it is undoubtedly fascinating. It's a four year-old girl singing a song about a baby crocodile, in German. It was originally written for a German TV programme, then became an internet hit, and eventually became a phenomenon in Germany, hogging the no 1 spot for ten weeks. It has also been no 1 in Belgium, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, and no 2 in Denmark and New Zealand, proving it can translate to the English speaking world, and selling over a million singles worldwide. The UK campaign is off to a good start with support from Scott Mills on Radio 1 and The Sun. We applaud it - the music industry is great at catering to middle class white male twenty somethings, but all too rarely does it offer something of interest to the under tens.
