Warner/Chappell triumphs at Sweden's Music Publisher Awards

Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia’s songwriters have been recognised with two of the most prestigious prizes at Musikforlaggarnas Pris, the Swedish Music Publishing Awards, walking off with prizes for Composer of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Lars Karlsson, Managing Director, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Nordics, says:  “I’m so proud of our incredible songwriters tonight.  This is also a remarkable result for Holly Astera, one of our leading A&Rs, who has signed the Rookie of the Year for the last two years, showing how we can help take new talent to the top!”

Ludwig Göransson, who co-wrote Childish Gambino’s smash hit ‘This Is America’, which went to Number One in the US and many other markets worldwide, was named Composer of the Year. He is signed to Warner/Chappell through its partnership with Jay-Z’s company RocNation.

Lova Sönnerbo was named Rookie of the Year and was joined on stage by fellow Warner/Chappell songwriters TEOFRANS (Teo Runsiö and Frans Torell), who write and produce for her, for a performance of Insecurities.

Holly Astera, A&R Manager, Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia, says: “It was fantastic to see Lova take to the stage with TEOFRANS.  She’s a remarkable artist and songwriter who has achieved so much aged just 20 and has a great career ahead of her.”

Warner/Chappell songwriters were also nominated in several other categories, with Ludwig Goransson also making the shortlist for International Success of the Year, Charlie Bernardo receiving a nod in the Composer of the Year category, while ‘I Wanna Know’, co-written by Jason Gill, and ‘Never Be The Same’, co-written by Sasha Sloan, were both finalists for Song of the Year.
