Warner/Chappell signs deal with Celeste

Celeste, one of the most exciting young soul songwriters in Britain, has signed a worldwide deal with Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group.

The deal comes after news of Celeste’s recent signing to Polydor Records.  The emerging Brighton soul singer won acclaim last year for her ‘The Milk and The Honey‘ EP, which was released by Lily Allen’s Bank Holiday label and produced by SBTRKT collaborator Tev'n and Rinse FM’s JD. Reid.  The release was praised by the likes of Annie Mac, Julie Adenuga and publications including FADERWonderlandInterview MagazineThe Line of Best Fit and DIY.

Celeste says: I'm excited and feeling very lucky to have the opportunity to work with Warner/Chappell and it’s great to be a part of the family."

Mike Smith, Managing Director of Warner/Chappell UK, adds: “I’m delighted that Celeste has decided to put her faith in Warner/Chappell.  She’s such an exciting fresh talent and she has the makings of a superstar.  This was a hotly contested deal and it’s testament to Amber Davis and Tom Coulson-Smith that Celeste chose us as her publishing home.”

Recent tracks ‘Both Sides of the Moon’ and ‘Lately’ have seen support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Phil Taggart, as well as 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova, DJ Target and Beats1’s Julie Adenuga.  Celeste has also attracted the attention of Sir Elton John, who played the track on his Beats1 show and said: “Celeste is quite something else…watch out for her.”

It’s been a busy 2018 for the rising star, who is represented by Atlas Artist Management.  She recently completed a month-long artist residency at West London’s Laylow club.  This saw her host workshops, screenings, club nights, writing and recording sessions and take part in a slew of exciting collaborations and performances in the Bella Freud-designed club throughout October.  The residency attracted huge attention with everyone from Spike Lee and Idris Elba, to Moses Boyd and Klein passing through along the way.

Eagle-eared listeners will have also heard new music from Celeste soundtracking the BBC’s acclaimed documentary series ‘Black Hollywood: They’ve Gotta Have Us’, which aired in October.
