UK Music unveils the line-up for its 2020 MAP Talent Pipeline Tour, which will be visiting academic partners this term.

UK Music’s MAP’s Talent Pipeline Tour 2020 kicks off on February 19th during BIMM Manchester’s WRKiT North event.

The launch event will include a keynote speech from UK Music’s Director of Education & Skills Oliver Morris on careers, followed by a Q&A with a careers fair and networking event. Oliver will be joined by BIY People & Talent founder Silvia Gargiulo, Music & You’s Jack Williamson and singer songwriter Chloe Foy.

The tour will visit all of UK Music’s academic partners over the coming months. All institutions are part of the ground-breaking Music Academic Partnership (MAP), a collaboration between educational institutions and the membership of UK Music.

Representatives from UK Music’s trade body members and a range of music professionals are set to visit students in a series of exciting events ranging from careers panels, keynote speeches and masterclasses to networking sessions, performances and specialist workshops. Industry professionals joining the tour include: Everything Everything’s Jeremy Pritchard, Bastille’s Manager Estelle Wilkinson, rapper ShaoDow, artist Eckoes, producer Phil Harding, Him_Self_Her & Just Her’s Claire Spooner, Marathon Artists’ Beth Heaton, Roundhouse Resident Artist IORA, Muse’s former tour manager Glen Rowe and many, many more.

The MAP Tour 2020 aims to engage and inspire the talent of the future and encourage individuals from all backgrounds and with a range of interests and skills to aim to work in - and for - the music industry.

UK Music’s Director of Education & Skills Oliver Morris said:

“I’m really excited to get back out on the road discussing careers in music with students across our MAP network. University is a popular route into the industry and we see our MAP partners as key in delivering the workforce of the future. We love taking industry experts out on the MAP Tour to meet students – there are always such great conversations and enthusiastic welcomes.

“There are some amazing trade bodies, organisations and individuals who want to share their knowledge for the good of the future of the industry and a lot of really bright and engaged young people out there. The MAP Tour is a pleasure to be a part of and as we enter its third year it always bodes well for the future of the industry.”

This year’s tour looks set to build on the success of last year with visits to all 16 of UK Music’s MAP partners institutions meaning more opportunities to talk careers in the music industry with students and young people.
