Truck Festival 2019 announces first wave of acts

First Wave Of Artists Announced Including Home-town heroes Foals.
Wolf Alice, Two Door Cinema Club and Slaves amongst other acts announced. 

From July 25^th – 28^th, Truck Festival will once again return to its beloved Hill Farm in Steventon for the 22^nd edition of the UK’s longest running and most cherished small festival.
 
This year Truck is thrilled to welcome local legends Foals back to Hill Farm – twelve years on from their last appearance at the festival where they played an iconic show in The Barn. The 2007 performance at the festival has gone down in Truck folklore. Fast-forward to 2019 and the band’s fan base now extends across the world, buoyed by the forthcoming release of their hotly anticipated twin albums, Everything Saved Will Not Be Lost. It’s been 5 years since they performed in Oxford, making this hometown show all the more special. Speaking about their excitement to be returning to Truck, Foals commented:

Festival organiser Matt Harrap commented, “We're extremely excited to announce our first wave of artists for this year’s show! Returning hometown heroes Foals is the icing on the cake; we’re over the moon to have them for their first Oxfordshire show in 5 years and their first at Truck since pre Antidotes! Having artists of the calibre of Two Door Cinema Club and Wolf Alice also coming to headline the event after many years of asking is truly humbling and their sets will no doubt live long in the memory.”
 
Last year Truck opened its doors for the first ever time on the Thursday, with Peace treating the early punters to an electric performance on the Market Stage. This time round, firm festival favourites Slaves will be headlining the opening night. 2018 saw the punk duo release their acclaimed third LP Acts Of Fear And Love, perform their biggest headline show to date at London’s Alexandra Palace and launch their own record label, Girl Fight. With new music for 2019 confirmed by guitarist Laurie Vincent, expect the unexpected on Thursday eve.
 
Friday will see Wolf Alice headline the main Stage. The band, spearheaded by Ellie Rowsell, captivated the nation via their 2017 album Visions of a Life – winning the 2018 Mercury Prize and featuring in countless publications’ top spot in best albums of the year. This will be one of the band’s few festival appearances this year, certainly not one to be missed. Commented the band “We’re honoured to headline the amazing Truck festival. Cheeky legends guaranteed attendance. Do not miss this.”
 
Closing Truck Festival is indie giants Two Door Cinema Club - who like Foals and Slaves have previously featured at the festival - and now return for a headline performance. After a brief hiatus, TDCC announced their awaited return in 2016 with third album Gameshow, a release that highlighted the band’s growth and experimentalism since their magnum opus LP, Tourist History. Their return to the stage has similarly been met with praise, and with indie anthems such as “Something Good Can Work”, “What You Know” and “Sun” in their back-catalogue, its easy to see why this will be one of Truck’s snapshot moments.
 
Also performing is a cherry-picked array of names at the forefront of their scene, including pop punk royalty You Me At Six, recent BRIT nominees IDLES, heralded indie-pop singer Kate Nash, South London five-piece Shame, The Futureheads – who recently announced their first album in 7 years, four-piece DIY indie/punk Martha, party pop-rock festival titans Don Broco and many more.

As ever, the festival also welcomes a host of local bands. “We have brilliant up and coming local talent such as Lacuna Common and Self Help”, says Matt. “Mix in the likes of You Me At Six, Nothing But Thieves and Shame and the soon to be announced epic Switch takeover of Palm City then we've got a real party! With ticket sales well ahead of this time last year, we really recommend not hanging around!”
