08 April 2021 - Press releaseThe Camille Awards – European Film Composer Awards are a set of awards given to composers of exceptional pieces of film and audio-visual music.
Best Orchestral Score: Johan Ramström (Sweden) for “Sara with All Her Being”, directed by Gunilla Bresky;
Best Electro-acoustic Score: John Gürtler (Germany) for “Systemsprenger”, directed by Nora Fingscheidt;
Best Original Music for a Series: Labrinth (United Kingdom) for “Euphoria”, created by Samuel Levinson.
The Camille Awards were able to, once again, at the same time, honour the greatest achievements of European composers of pieces of film and audio-visual music, and to expand awareness among the audience, composers and filmmakers on the importance and the power of film music soundtracks.
ECSA also granted a Special Camille Award to Alberto Iglesias, in recognition of his exceptional score for Dolor y Gloria, film directed from Pedro Almodóvar. The score transcended the current categorisations.
The ceremony featured contributions from all the nominees as well as the renowned members of the International Jury. Among them, Patrick Doyle remarks: “It’s just amazing to be part of a community that looks after composers and inspires composers the way this Alliance does” while David Arnold congratulates all nominees for “the extreme breadth of the work, the originality of the work, and the very raw talent that is on show.”

The 2021 edition of the Camille Awards was organised by ECSA with the support of the Creative Europe Programme. In 2021, seeing as the Awards were taking place online, ECSA partnered with FAME’S Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra. Nominated composers had the opportunity to record their scores with the Orchestra and have them showcased during the online ceremony.
