The Box Plus Network, the UK’s largest and most-watched music television network, has announced the launch of a brand new interactive campaign offering six week paid internships and the chance for fans to contribute to the network’s content.
Box Plus You is designed to help and support young adults achieve their career aspirations in the media industry by giving them the unique opportunity to become part of The Box Network’s team - both in the office and from your sofa!
The new scheme will offer six students the chance to become fully integrated within the network’s day to day operations and will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry's best talent gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight. Depending on the placement they select, the students enrolled on the programme could be a part of researching and producing content, assisting with live shows, booking artists or helping to create TV and radio campaigns.
Box Plus You launches onscreen in September with a series of new formats starring The Box Plus Network audience. Interactive shows will feature the fans either through light touch voting or starring roles in shows like Younews and Videocrush.
Box Plus You has been launched with the help of three furry Instagram stars @winniethecorgi, @dolly_pawton and @honeyidressedthepug. You can watch the video here made with the guidance of Goldsmiths student Leander Wells who interned with The Box Plus Network as Assistant Producer/Director.
Melissa Fretwell, Marketing Director, The Box Plus Network says: “Box Plus You is a campaign that places our audience at the heart of our business and responds to the scarcity of opportunity to break into the industry. Giving our fans the chance to join the team either as an intern or a contributor through a range of show formats, is a key part of the inclusive culture we’re building at Box. We massively value input from our audience and hope to hone our brands and inspire them to take up a career in media industry, ideally coming back to The Box Plus Network as full time employees in the future.”
Applicants keen to join The Box Plus Network as an intern can apply for the following positions via Box Plus You:
Production Researcher
Digital Assistant
Music Programmer
Content Scheduler
Brands Solutions Assistant
Marketing Assistant
More information on each role can be found below.
Testimonials from previous The Box Plus Network interns:
Leander Wells, Creative Team Intern: “My experience at The Box Plus Network has been an amazing journey and I have learnt so much about a variety of things, from pre-production, production and post-production. Not only did I end up working on one campaign, I was also invited to share ideas about other promos that were going on at the time which made my time at the Box varied and all the more interesting.”
Laura Carter, Production Intern, promoted to Junior Production Manager: “Paid internships are like gold dust so when you find a good one you really feel like you've like you've struck lucky. As the intern at Box I felt like everyone was willing to help and wanted to make my experience worthwhile. I felt like a valued member of the team and learnt a huge amount about the industry I wanted to build a career in.”
Mikey Dowdle, Design Intern, promoted to junior motion graphics designer: “The intern programme was great for me to get proper hands-on experience with live projects, big and small. There was plenty of guidance there when I needed it (when I had no idea what I was doing!), but also freedom to try my own ideas and develop my skills.”
Emily Dawling, Run Assistant, former work experience: “Applying for work experience at The Box Plus Network was by far one for the best decisions I’ve so far ever made (and I promise I’m not just saying this because they now pay my wages!) I learnt an incredible amount in the initial two weeks; being thrown in the deep end and given responsibilities making me adapt to the busy and face paced TV environment I have always aspired to work in, and this was a dream come true!”
Box Plus You will offer six placements for students ages 18 plus across different areas of the company and will run throughout the summer. For more information please visit: http://www.boxplus.com/you/
