Manchester's Soup Kitchen goes 100% Digital
12 October 2017 - Press releaseFor decades, music fans have paid over the odds for gig tickets sold on the secondary ticketing market. Now, a leading Manchester venue has announced a move to mobile-first tickets, ensuring fans don’t get ripped off.
From 12 October, Manchester’s Soup Kitchen will become the city’s only mobile-first venue. The change to digital will put fans first with tout-proof ticket, that allow refunds up to moments before gigs start. The action follows recent events where secondary ticketing has impacted the fans and the music industry.
The move has been made possible by music discovery and ticketing app DICE. Founded in 2014, DICE locks out the touts and makes buying tickets and discovering music easier than ever for music fans across the UK and USA.
DICE’s mobile-only tickets can’t be bought up by secondary ticketing sites or sold by touts outside of venues. This ensures genuine music fans will never pay over the odds to see their favourite artists.
Russ Tannen, Head of Music said, “In a digital world, where you can book everything through your phone, we believe it’s important for venues to move with the times. When venues ditch tout-friendly paper tickets and embrace mobile, everyone wins (except the touts). Soup Kitchen is a great venue partner, it believes in curating the best acts while putting fans first.”
John Howes, Soup Kitchen said, “We decided to work with DICE as their focus on for putting fans first, keeping touts out and event curation compliments our forward thinking music policy. By making the ticketing journey as seamless as possible, we are giving our customers the best experience we can and at the same time put a stop to secondary ticketing.”
The advantages for fans are clear. Tickets can be purchased, returned and transferred with a few taps of a smartphone. Fans will be offered real-time support direct to their mobile and can subscribe to the venue to receive updates like stage times and support act announcement.
