Latest PPL Momentum Music Fund and PPL Momentum Yorkshire Accelerator supported artists announced



PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development, together with PPL, Creative Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland and Spotify reveal the artists that will receive support from the pioneering PPL Momentum Music Fund.  The artists who have been selected by a network of industry experts, are: 

Bellah – Touring and promotion
Ego Ella May – EP recording, release campaign and touring
Haich Ber Na – Marketing and promotion for single releases
Jake Isaac – Promotion for new album
Kasien – Funding for forthcoming project
Kima Otung – Recording and promotion of new EP
Lucinda Chua – Marketing for debut album
N’famady Kouyate – Touring and album promotion
Queen Millz – Marketing
Tungz – Marketing for debut album
Wesley Joseph – Funding for forthcoming project
YUNG FUME – Marketing and live show production 

Additionally, together with Launchpad, Music:Leeds / Music Local and Arts Council England, PPL Momentum Accelerator support was available to talented artists based in Yorkshire. The two Yorkshire-based artists receiving PPL Momentum Accelerator support are:

Bored At My Grandma’s House – Recording, marketing and touring
Priestgate – Touring 

PPL Momentum Accelerator funding supports exciting artists with a growing fanbase who are working to establish a music industry team. The PPL Momentum Music Fund is for artists with a team already in place and at a tipping point, ready to take the next step in their careers. The next deadline to apply for the PPL Momentum Music Fund support is Tuesday 7th June at 6pm

Just last week, Sam Fender and Little Simz, past recipients of funding, won Ivor Novello Awards for their songwriting – a prestigious recognition of their talent. Congratulations to the artists receiving funding today and we hope this financial support allows them to take a significant step forward in their careers.” 

Managed by PRS Foundation, the PPL Momentum Music Fund awards grants of £5,000-£15,000 using funds from PRS Foundation, PPL, Creative Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Invest Northern Ireland. Spotify, the official digital partner of the fund, contributes additional funding and a reward package containing exciting promotional opportunities and a close working relationship between PPL Momentum Music Fund artists and the Spotify team. 

PPL Momentum Accelerator artists receive grants of up to £5,000 to develop their careers and continue building momentum to get to the next vital tipping points in their careers. This series of targeted Yorkshire editions of PPL Momentum Accelerator is in partnership with Launchpad, delivered by Music:Leeds / Music Local, which offers opportunities and support for emerging artists, musicians, producers, bands, composers and industry professionals in the Yorkshire region. Since 2019, Launchpad has directly supported over 100 artists and professionals with a combination of live opportunities, recording support, project funding and one-to-one industry advice & mentoring.

PPL became headline sponsors of the Momentum Music Fund in February 2020. Since then, more than 55 talented music creators at tipping points in their careers have received this vital support to break through to the next level. This type of support is crucial for both music creators’ careers and the wider industry as the 5 Years of Momentum Report (2013-18) found the fund had generated over £18m for the UK music industry and UK economy. 

PRS Foundation and Arts Council England initiated The Momentum Music Fund in 2013. Arts Council England originally established the need for this specific fund and supported the programme from 2013-18.
