KT Tunstall & pals cover Lennon for charity single

A supergroup featuring singer KT Tunstall and some of the world's top musicians are to release a charity version of John Lennon protest song 'Gimme Some Truth' demanding more transparency in society.
KT joins a who's who of UK musicians- collectively known as The Full Story- and their version of the 1971 track comes out on December 8- the 39th anniversary of Lennon's tragic death.
Profits from the single- recorded live in one day- will be donated to the charity War Child.
The apolitical project is described as a musical demonstration demanding a more transparent world in which the public are told the truth.
KT said: "John Lennon's voice still speaks to us decades later, screaming for equality, truth and love.
"It was very special to have the opportunity to perform this song with some excellent musicians in aid of War Child, an incredible charity, to raise the volume on the call for truth.
We are sick of being lied to. Gimme some truth!"
Musicians on the track include Procul Harum organist Josh Phillips, former Eric Clapton and current Tom Jones bassist Dave Bronze, keyboardist Sam Tanner- who has worked with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood- Average White Band and Paul McCartney guitarist Hamish Stuart, Big Country drummer Mark Brzezicki and slide-guitarist Richard Studholme, who has performed with John Lee Hooker.
Josh Phillips- who also co-wrote the Strictly Come Dancing theme- said: "Sadly, the words to this song are now more poignant than in 1971. It's hard to believe what foresight Lennon had- imagine what he would think of the world today."
And Sam Tanner added: "There's no better time than now to ask the question- who is telling the truth? Whichever cause you're fighting for, in desperately uncertain times there is one thing that unifies everybody, and that is the search for the truth - it's so hard to get it, but you've gotta keep trying" "
The lyrics include the powerful lines: "I'm sick and tired of hearing things from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics.
"All I want is the truth, just give me some truth."
Lennon recorded 'Gimme Some Truth' in May 1971 at Ascot Sound Studios. It was first released on his 1971 album 'Imagine'.
'Gimme Some Truth' by The Full Story will be available for download on all major platforms from December 8. The video and images can be seen at www.gimmesometruthnow.com
