Jack Melhuish announced as Parlophone’s new Director of Marketing, Strategy and Partnerships

Parlophone Records has made a major new appointment - the first under Co-President, Mark Mitchell - recruiting Jack Melhuish as its new Director of Marketing, Strategy & Partnerships. Melhuish has now joined the label, having recently left his former post as Marketing Director at Polydor.

In this role, Melhuish will have responsibility for all creative marketing and strategy across the label, building both individual artist and label-specific campaigns. Moving away from pure paid-for marketing mechanics, Melhuish will put greater emphasis on disruptive execution, content and influencer marketing, and co-operative strategies with brand and media partners.

Throughout the last few years, Melhuish has overseen all facets of marketing for a wide range of domestic and international artists in the UK, including visual identity, audience identification and analysis, social and CRM, content strategy, VOD/TV/OOH media planning, experiential and fan base engagement. Recent artists he has worked with at Polydor include The 1975, Lana Del Rey, Haim, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, Years & Years, Jax Jones, Stefflon Don, Michael Kiwanuka, Elbow and Ramz.

For Melhuish, this is a return to Warner Music UK, having held both Digital Director and Marketing Director positions at Atlantic Records until 2014. It also represents a return to working with Mark Mitchell who, prior to taking the helm at Parlophone last year, was the General Manager at Atlantic. At Atlantic, Melhuish was instrumental to the campaigns of artists including Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Clean Bandit, Rudimental and Paolo Nutini.

Melhuish has also served as the Digital Committee Chairman for the BRITS ensuring the awards were fully digital, mobile and socially enhanced. During his tenure, the BRITS saw its first YouTube live stream of the event around world and the first real-time vote on Twitter to determine an award winner during the show.

Mark Mitchell, Co-President, Parlophone Records commented: “During our time together at Atlantic, we broke a number of huge UK artists, so I’m incredibly excited to be back working with Jack. His recent work has continued that success and seen him really develop a truly progressive approach to marketing artists. He totally gets the level of disruption, speed and cross channel engagement that’s required nowadays. I’m sure that through highly effective, holistic campaigns, he will have a significant impact on our capability for new and existing artists.”

Jack Melhuish commented: “Parlophone is at a massively exciting stage of its life and this is a fantastic opportunity to work with Mitch again, to be part of a talented and passionate team and to lead the label and its artists into different ways of reaching and engaging audiences. Both brands and fans want greater access to artists than ever before. Our focus will be to blend all traditional and non-traditional channels to our advantage and work creatively and flexibly with both established partners and the wealth of new and exciting avenues that are available to our acts.”
