The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP), one of the UK's leading contemporary music schools, is delighted to host the inaugural Reboot conference, the first UK event of its kind to explore the world of music business and entrepreneurship education.
Taking place on Wednesday 12th June at ICMP’s Kilburn headquarters, the conference will welcome a diverse, international array of music industry experts and academics to discuss the latest hot topics and trends.
The event will be hosted by ICMP ahead of the unveiling of its new BA (Hons) Music Business and Entrepreneurship in September 2019, the first music business degree to emphasise the concept of entrepreneurship.
Ken Foreman, Conference Facilitator and ICMP Associate Dean, said: “Our aim is to create a neutral forum for experts from across the music business and education sectors - whether they be teaching, studying or working in the sector - to share the latest ideas and groundbreaking innovations.
“Our event has a really robust agenda of ideas mixed with great industry guests. We’ve analytical experts from the world of academia speaking alongside BBC Radio 1 DJs, social media experts and ICMP alumna.”
Speakers will include, Darren Hoffman from the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship at Florida State University, alongside academics from Birmingham City University, Leeds College of Music and Falmouth University. Music industry speakers include Music Ally’s Kush Patel, representatives from the BPI, ITB, and BMG, along with social media expert Adam Biddle from GH0ST. BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart will also be attending to introduce his new book 'The Slacker Guide to the Music Industry', due for release later this month.
Continuing, Ken said:
“I wanted to ask ourselves what we need to teach students who are going to graduate into the music and wider creative industries over the next decade. Creating the right mindset in students is just as important as the skills and knowledge which we give them.
“I’m very proud to welcome ICMP alumna Nina Rubesa to speak too. Since completing her studies, she now works for ATC Management and has launched her own start-up business. Nina possesses an amazing blend of knowledge, a 21st century skill set and an entrepreneurial mindset and epitomises what I think our music business students should aspire to be.”
Presentations and panel discussions will run throughout the event and delegates will finish their day continuing to exchange ideas at a drinks reception.
