Griff mini-doc via Spotify RADAR’s global emerging artists program

Spotify has created a mini documentary on up-and-coming British pop-star, Griff.  

The move comes following the announcement of Griff, AKA Sarah Faith Griffins, as the latest addition to Spotify’s global emerging artist program, which made her the first RADAR artist to be supported in both the US and UK 

On the heels of recent singles “One Foot In Front of the Other” and “Black Hole” and in the leadup to the release of her debut mixtape (out June 18 on Warner Music), Griff has proven exactly why she’s a RADAR artist: She has over 137M streams on Spotify, over 7.2M monthly listeners, placements on more than 300 Spotify playlists including Today’s Top Hits, Hot Hits UK, and Pop Rising, and recently won the Rising Star award at this year’s BRIT Awards! 

To celebrate these milestones, Spotify and Griff have teamed up on a mini-documentary, coming out on June 15th. You can take a peek at the doc in advance HERE, and visual assets can be found HERE. 

In the 13-min clip directed by Beatrix Blaise and Samantha King, the 20-year-old brings us an authentic and playful look at how she became the budding artist she is today by taking the viewer on a tour of her hometown, a small village just outside of London, introducing us to her family and best friend/creative soundboard, Rose. While sharing intimate photos and home videos from childhood, Griff, her mom, and her siblings get real about their Chinese-Jamaican heritage, sometimes a challenge growing up in rural England, and the ways this influenced her songwriting. We also learn about Griff’s songwriting process and get to see her prized replica of Taylor Swift’s guitar.  

Additionally, the video conveys Griff’s second passion beyond music: designing, making, and wearing homemade outfits that fans have seen in several of her music videos, including this very mini-doc!
