The SPYSCAPE Podcast Network announces For Your Ears Only - a new show featuring influential musicians, composers, directors and actors - revealing secrets and insights around their favourite film and television music. Listeners can get their weekly dose of great music and great stories, exclusively on Spotify, from May 7.

With acclaimed actor Jodhi May (The Witcher, Small Axe, A Quiet Passion) as host, For Your Ears Only treats listeners to musical voyages of discovery with exceptional talents including: five-time Grammy & Oscar winner Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Rihanna); Fraser T Smith (Kano, Stormzy, Dave); Academy and Grammy winner Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Mandalorian, Tenet), plus legendary producers and performers such as Nile Rodgers of Chic and John Taylor of Duran Duran. Season one also features electronic music pioneer Anna Meredith MBE, a rare interview with British music icon Anne Dudley, and multi-Mercury Award nominated artist Anna Calvi.

For Your Ears Only is also that rarest of listening experiences - a podcast with music! Thanks to Spotify's groundbreaking Anchor platform, each episode features all the tracks discussed - either in the form of tasters for Spotify Free subscribers, or complete tracks for Spotify Premium listeners.

As you’d expect from the SPYSCAPE Podcast Network , music from thrillers, spy movies, and espionage soundtracks feature heavily in the series, and (coinciding with the imminent release of No Time To Die) the subject of 007 makes a welcome appearance, with Fraser T Smith stating his desire to pen a Bond theme, and choosing his vocalist;

“I’d love to take elements of John Barry and to have that huge sound, but I think there could be something electronic that could work within that as well. I think it could be a rapper. It’s time isn’t it? It could be Stormzy. With a John Barry-esque futuristic beat. It already sounds like something!”

While Paul Epworth gives a behind the curtain look at writing Adele’s ‘Skyfall’.

“I went back and watched all the Bond films in chronological order, to make sure I was immersed in it and make sure I knew what the mood was. A lot of what the theme ‘is’ depends on what point in the story that the theme happens. So you have your intro sequence, and then in my case, Bond dies! So I was like, “Right, where do we go from here?” So it had to be mournful and funereal and sad but with this sense of optimism. He’s the closest thing we’ve got to a superhero against the Marvel and DC comic world isn’t he?'
The SPYSCAPE Podcast Network launched in April 2020 with True Spies - the hit show hosted by Hollywood superstar Hayley Atwell and 2021 Oscar-nominee Vanessa Kirby. True Spies features real spies telling the amazing stories behind the world’s greatest espionage operations - and asking audiences what they would do in critical situations. The show also invites listeners to test their own secret intelligence skills, with online exercises designed by a former Head of Training at British Intelligence.
