Decca announces V&A Event - featuring rare Bowie videos, performances from Sheku Kanneh-Mason and more

On Sunday 5^th May, Decca Records partners with London’s prestigious V&A for a day of family fun, and music and history to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the UK’s longest living record label – as part of the V&A Performance Festival.

The event, which is open to the public, will be spread over five rooms, seeing part of the V&A transformed into celebration of the historic label, featuring a host of acts, with children’s music-focused workshops and much more.

Decca is also thrilled to welcome a number of the label’s finest names (both old and new) to perform – including cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who performed at the Royal Wedding, rising singer-songwriter Rhys Lewis, with more to be announced.

There’s also music history and artefacts, rare memorabilia, a Dansette Disco of 45RPM singles released by Decca and an opportunity for the younger ones to make a musical instrument or design an album sleeve. There will also be a chance at various times throughout the day to see newly restored David Bowie video footage from the 1960s.

Throughout 2019, Decca will be celebrating its nine decades of excellence, marking the occasion with: The Supreme Record Company: The Story Of Decca Records 1929-2019 book, a brand new Ron Howard-directed Pavarotti feature film, activities at Decca’s infamous lost recording studio in West Hampstead, a unique series of concerts in London, Berlin and Paris, 90 reissues and releases, podcasts, radio shows and much more.
