Chrysalis Records enter into global partnership with Everything But The Girl

Chrysalis Records, one of the leading British independent labels announced today a global partnership with acclaimed band Everything But The Girl.

The long-term licensing agreement will see Chrysalis Records distribute and promote the band’s first eight seminal albums, from the ground-breaking Latin Jazz classic “Eden” up to 1994’s “Amplified Heart”, which features the record-breaking chart hit “Missing.”

The deal follows the acquisition of the Everything But The Girl catalogue, as part of the Warner/Impala/Merlin divestment agreement, by Buzzin’ Fly Records, the independent label and Impala member owned by the band’s Ben Watt.

Everything But The Girl were formed by Watt and Tracey Thorn in 1982, while the pair were studying at Hull University. They drew on their love of a wide range of music - from jazz to folk to country to electronic and beyond – to develop a distinct and unique sound of their own. Ben and Tracey are both successful authors and performers in their own right and continue to break new ground in music and the arts.

Ben Watt said “The Warner divestment offered Tracey and I a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own the lion’s share of our back catalogue. With our prime focus these days on new respective solo projects, Chrysalis is the perfect collaborator to help curate ten years of early joint work we are both still very proud of."

Robin Millar CCO Chrysalis Records said, “Having produced Ben and Tracey’s first two albums, it’s so good to be working with them again. They have made so much truly beautiful music and continue to do so.”

Jeremy Lascelles CEO Chrysalis Records said, “This is a wonderful catalogue of recordings topped off with one of the great female voices this country has ever produced. What’s not to love? It’s a real privilege to be working with Ben and Tracey.”
