Capitol Records and Universal Music Latin Entertainment sign Carmen Deleon to worldwide recording agreement

Capitol Music Group (CMG) and Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE) have signed singer Carmen DeLeon to a worldwide recording agreement, it was announced today by CMG Executive Vice President Jeremy Vuernick and UMLE President Victor González who jointly signed her to their respective companies.

DeLeon, who is represented by Jared Paul and Janelle Lopez of Faculty Management, was born in Caracas, Venezuela and relocated to Tampa and later to Barcelona when she was in her early teens. While in Spain she found success on that country’s edition of The Voice, drawing a devoted fan base with her infectious energy and unforgettable voice. DeLeon broadened her local following with a series of successful concerts and online covers, and the 18-year-old artist is now completing work on her U.S. debut that will be released later this year.

According to Jeremy Vuernick and Sergio Vega, “Carmen is a truly talented artist with an unmistakable voice and undeniable charisma. We are approaching her development from a global perspective that’s befitting to her ability to sing flawlessly in both English and Spanish. This will allow her to further bridge the gap between Latin and Anglo audiences. We are incredibly excited to be welcoming her to the Capitol family.”

Victor Gonzalez said, “We warmly congratulate Carmen DeLeon on joining our newly created synergy between UMLE/Capitol. It is a privilege to include her unique talent in our roster of a new generation of Latin singers, writers and performers. We wish her much success in this electrifying new stage of her professional career.”
