BMG names new leadership in Continental Europe and Germany
03 April 2019 - Press releaseDominique Kulling appointed EVP Continental Europe Repertoire & Marketing
BMG has promoted Dominique Kulling to EVP Continental Europe Repertoire & Marketing, responsible for signing, promoting and servicing artists and songwriters across 15 territories and with a specific brief to build BMG's recorded music business in Continental Europe.
Kulling, previously Managing Director BMG GSA, will continue to report directly to BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch.
She will be replaced as Managing Director of BMG GSA by Maximilian Kolb, previously Director A&R Recorded Music BMG GSA.
BMG's Continental European operation includes offices in Berlin, Paris, Hilversum, Milan, Madrid and Stockholm.
BMG Continental Europe music publishing clients include Tim Bendzko, The BossHoss and Alice Merton (DE); Afrojack and Nicky Romero (Benelux); BigFlo & Oli and Jeanne Added (FR) and Francesco Gabbani (IT).
BMG's recordings roster in Continental Europe includes artists like Lenny Kravitz, Adel Tawil and Max Giesinger (DE), Marianne Faithfull and Nakhane (FR), Paolo Conte and Francesco Gabbani (IT), Per Gessle (SCAN) and Alice Wonder and Nena Daconte (ESP).
Kulling replaces Fred Casimir who stepped up to pursue full-time his previously parallel role driving BMG's international recordings business with his promotion announced to staff earlier this week to EVP Global Repertoire & Marketing.
Hartwig Masuch said, "Dominique lives and breathes the BMG philosophy. She has helped shape our recordings business from its very beginnings. In Germany she has attracted high-profile big-selling artists such as Adel Tawil, KitschKrieg and Max Giesinger. As we prepare to ramp up our recordings business right across Continental Europe, she is the ideal person to take it forward."
Under Kulling's supervision, BMG Germany grew its recordings business by 30% in 2018.
Said Kulling, "BMG is the only major international music company headquartered in Continental Europe. We know and understand the importance and dynamism and talent of Europe's artists and songwriters. I am delighted to have the opportunity to develop our local recordings business in these 15 markets and to deliver our artists and songwriters the service they deserve. In a streaming world there are no borders."
Kulling joined BMG in 2008, a few months after the company opened for business, playing an important role in developing the blueprint for BMG's artist-friendly recordings business and building its European marketing team. After working on productions including Deutschland '86 and Babylon Berlin as SVP International Coordination & Music Supervision, she was promoted to Managing Director BMG GSA at the end of 2016.
Under her leadership BMG Germany has consistently outperformed BMG as a whole in terms of chart share in music publishing thanks to writers such as Alice Merton, The BossHoss, RAF Camora, Peter Maffay and AnnenMayKantereit. On her watch, BMG has enjoyed success with recording artists including Kontra K, Max Giesinger and KitschKrieg.
Kulling takes up her appointment with immediate effect.

Kolb, most recently Director A&R Recorded Music BMG GSA, will lead a team of over 40 based in Berlin and will report to Dominique Kulling, EVP Continental Europe Repertoire & Marketing.

He is that rare combination - a genuine music guy with an incredible rapport with artists who also has a business brain and leadership skills. I am confident he will lead our BMG Germany team to even greater success."
