Absolute licenses Africa’s largest streaming platform Boomplay

Boomplay reported 46 million users in April 2019

Absolute Label Services has inked a direct licensing deal with Boomplay, Africa’s largest music streaming and download service.

The deal means that any tracks released by Absolute’s clients on their own label via the services company will be made available on the Boomplay platform.

In April 2019, Boomplay reported 46 million users across the African continent.

Absolute’s licensing deal means that its catalogue will be made available in all of Boomplay’s territories, including Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

Boomplay’s Head of International Content & Partnerships, Phil Choi, said: “Boomplay is delighted to sign yet another quality partner to our platform. Absolute’s vast catalogue will enable our users all over Africa to access an ever-increasing international repertoire of top-quality content. We would like to thank Absolute for their professionalism and efficiency on the agreement and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.

Absolute’s Head of Digital Operations Dianne Bonney said: “We’re thrilled to be working in partnership with Boomplay to ensure the labels and artists we represent have the opportunity to reach the ever-growing number of music lovers in Africa.”

Founded in 1998, Absolute is one of the world’s most established independent label services companies. It has a varied client base, having worked on high profile album releases from artists and labels including Steps, All Saints, Jake Shears, Kim Wilde, Alice Cooper, 67, Dappy, Ay Em, RAM Records, Danny Jones, Ferris & Sylvester and many more in recent years.
