Despite starting working life as a graphic designer, a stint as general manager of the now-defunct Tip Sheet (a UK based music industry publication) led Paul to realise that publishing and music is where his heart is.
A few years spent at Clickmusic running the contract publishing division and launching the Clickmusicbiz daily news email sparked the arrival of Record of the Day. A few years down the line and he is now the owner of the best-loved music industry news and music service. He still plans to win the Tour de France before he’s 50.

Neil Brennan

Neil's career as a music journalist began with a two month placement at Hot Press magazine in Dublin. After that he spent five years covering music and arts stories for a variety of Irish publications/broadcasters, including The Dubliner, The Sun, RTÉ, Today FM and Newstalk. Neil moved to London in late 2010 and joined Record of the Day soon after. He balances out the rest of the team's healthy approach to life by drinking inhuman amounts of fizzy soft drinks - but only ever out of a can.

After spending almost ten years working on music consumer publications and as a business journalist on trade titles, Nicola decided she’d like nothing better than getting up at 5.45am to edit the music industry’s best news service. She is by far the least funny of the gang, but is more caffeine-fuelled and energetic than an hyena injected with pure Nescafe. She spends her spare time dreaming about line dancing with cowboys at rodeos.

Having cut his teeth in the world of major label marketing when multi-million-selling album releases were still quite common, David made the unusual career move of deciding to become a journalist instead. He wrote for various music trade (and a few consumer) titles before becoming the original editor of RotD. He now works primarily in digital label management but still gets to air his opinions on the wider business as RotD’s contributing editor.

Joe Taylor
Music Consultant
Joe Taylor thought up the name "Record of the Day" and was its founding music editor, providing early support to the likes of Damien Rice, Keane and Crazy Frog. Nowadays he is focused on Field Recordings, a record label, and Nuxx, a management and publishing company, while continuing to seek out great music for Record of the Day as music consultant.

James Barton
Strategist
James joined soon after Record of the Day launched. He is still intimately involved in the company though his day job now is managing artists as part of the brilliant team at Crown Music. It has often been asked what does he do exactly? The answer is he makes things happen.
