We say

Pearse McGloughlin is a singer-songwriter who hails from Sligo in the north west of Ireland. As well as making music under his own name, he records as part of Dublin-based Nocturnes and this sublime, lullaby-like track comes from the fourth album The Soft Animal, released on Sligo label Bluestack Records. Songs from it have featured on BBC Radio Ulster, RTE, Today FM and Jason Kramer’s show on KCRW, but we reckon this deserves a global audience, who’ll fall for its charm in much the same way that we did. The lyrics are a fantastical retelling of a near-death experience and also features Pearse’s bandmate and longtime collaborator Enda Roche. It has almost magical powers in the way that it pulls you in, creating something that’s utterly captivating and just so damn beautiful. Some UK shows are hopefully on the cards. Before that, Nocturnes launch their next single Dear Infant in Dublin on April 30. For now though, we’ll be happy to stick this on a loop to help us unwind when the stresses of the day get too much to bare. You too should be prepared to be totally enchanted by it.
