·         Ad-funded music video service launched on mobiles, tablets and Smart TVs

·         Available via Samsung Apps and Google Play Store in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK

·         Playback can easily be switched from mobile or tablet to TV

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, today announced that the music video service, VidZone, has launched on Samsung mobiles, tablets and Smart TVs in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Available via the Samsung Apps and Google Play Store, the ad-funded service is free to Samsung users, with no in-app purchases.

Users with a 2014 Samsung Smart TV can wirelessly transfer content from the VidZone mobile or tablet app onto the big screen, streaming it in order of the play queue they have set up as well.

VidZone features over 65,000 music videos – one of the largest catalogues of any dedicated music video service – including content from major labels and more than 1000 independent labels. The application offers music fans a wealth of HD videos from the biggest artists including Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Coldplay, Eminem, David Guetta, and more.

Features include ‘My Zone’, which allows users to create a library of favourite music videos; ‘Play Zone’, an easy and quick queuing function; and a huge selection of constantly updated genre-based ‘Zones’, enabling discovery of VidZone’s wide catalogue.

The service, which has been downloaded by more than 11 million users, offers dozens of world exclusives, including music video premieres; live concerts; more than 500 interviews; live sessions; and behind the scenes footage. Added to this are hundreds of expertly curated playlists and genre-based charts. Content is highly localised, with videos, playlists and charts tailored for users in each of the launch territories.

Shortly after the initial launch in five European territories, the service will become available in additional territories. The launch marks the first time that VidZone’s service will be available on devices other than games consoles.

Lee Epting, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Media Solution Center Europe said: “The use of online video music streaming services is booming. VidZone is leading the charge with a service that delivers one of the richest and most extensive music video catalogues – available instantly at the touch of a button. We are delighted that the service has been designed and optimised specifically for Samsung devices, marking the first time that VidZone’s service will be available on smartphones, tablets and Smart TVs.”

Adrian Workman, CEO of VidZone added: “We’re delighted to be launching VidZone via the connected Samsung platform and excited that new VidZone users can now enjoy our music video application via market leading Samsung mobiles, tablets and smart TVs. VidZone provides music fans with access to a huge catalogue of HD music videos via an intuitive and personalised music video experience both in the home and on the go.”
