viagogo hires EMI veteran Carole MacDonald as Global Head of Music

viagogo, the world’s largest ticket marketplace, has hired Carole MacDonald to oversee its global music relationships and partnerships.

The appointment reflects viagogo’s increasing commitment to the music industry and follows the recent announcement of a $75m global partnership deal with SFX Entertainment, best known for mega-festivals Tomorrowland, Rock in Rio and Stereosonic.

Cris Miller, Head of Business Development at viagogo, commented: “The way people buy tickets is changing. We now sell tickets to customers in over a hundred countries and we’re seeing huge growth in the number of people travelling across borders to see their favourite artists in action.
“We value our partnerships with the music industry and Carole will be developing both our existing partnerships and new opportunities. We’re delighted to have her on board and look forward to forging even closer working relationships with the industry.”

Carole MacDonald, Global Head of Music at viagogo, said: “viagogo is pioneering new ways to do things in music that can benefit everybody. There are valuable opportunities for rights owners, management and talent and I will be discussing these in my meetings with the industry over the coming months.”
