Since launching in 2008, each year the BRIT Critics’ Choice winner has gone on to achieve incredible things. Last year’s winner James Bay’s debut album Chaos and the Calm charted at Number One upon its release in March and has gone on to become one of the biggest selling albums of 2015.

Today The BRIT Awards can reveal the 2016 shortlist:

Izzy Bizu

I’m so honoured to be nominated for the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award this year, following in the footsteps of amazingly talented artists like Adele, Emeli Sande and James Bay so thank you! I grew up watching the BRITs on the TV at home so it's pretty exciting to be a part of it!”

Frances

It's such a huge honour to be nominated for the Critics' Choice award. I've followed the BRITs my whole life, but never thought I'd be lucky enough to be nominated…It’s amazing to be a part of something that has included so many of my idols and musical inspirations. An amazing feeling. Thank you.”'

Jack Garratt

"It's amazing to be nominated for the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award 2016. It's such a significant award that highlights the importance of new music, so it's a genuine honour to have been nominated alongside some other incredible new acts from the UK.”

Upon today’s announcement of the shortlist, the three nominated artists have been inducted into the BRITs Voting Academy and are now eligible themselves to vote for The BRIT Awards 2016.

The Critics’ Choice Award is chosen by a team of experts including the music editors of national newspapers, key music and lifestyle magazines and music websites plus the heads of music at major radio and music TV stations. The Award is open to artists signed to a label who are set to release their debut albums in 2016 and over 100 artists from a range of genres were considered for the award.

The 2016 Critics' Choice Award winner will be announced on Friday 27th November.

Since launching in 2008 the Critics’ Choice Award has continued to successfully highlight and identify future British recording talent before it happens. Not only have previous winners enjoyed incredible domestic success but also international acclaim and collectively, the winners, to date, have sold in excess of 21 million albums worldwide.
