Spotify Reveals the Most-Listened-to Songs of Summer 2015

Today, Spotify reveals the songs that came out on top for music lovers this summer, with Major Lazer’s “Lean On” (feat. MØ and DJ Snake) taking the number 1 spot, globally. Ranking in second place globally is OMI’s “Cheerleader”, with Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again”  rounding out the top three.
 
Closer to home Major Lazer and OMI held on to their top spots, but Jason Derulo’s “Want To Want Me” came in as the UK’s third most-listened-to song of the summer.
 
In the U.S. The Weeknd took the number one and two spots of most-listened-to songs of the summer, with “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills”, respectively. Major Lazer’s “Lean On” (feat. MØ and DJ Snake) capped out as the third most-listened-to song in the U.S. this summer.
 
The songs of the summer were identified by looking at Spotify’s most listened to tracks between June 1st and August 31st 2015.
 
Other artists making up Spotify’s songs of the summer list include Wiz Khalifa, Avicii, Fetty Wap and Kygo.
 
Shanon Cook, Spotify’s resident music trends expert, commented: "Our listeners have a keen ear for what’s hot and emerging. It’s exciting that tracks like Major Lazer’s “Lean On”, which we predicted would be a strong contender for song of the summer earlier this season, ended up being the summer soundtrack for many music lovers.”
