SONY/ATV PROMOTES TYLER CHILDS AND LOU AL-CHAMAA TO NEW CREATIVE ROLES



Sony/ATV Music Publishing has promoted Tyler Childs to Vice President, Creative and Lou Al-Chamaa to Senior Director, Creative, both based in the company’s Los Angeles office.

Since joining Sony/ATV in 2012 as Creative Director, Childs’ signings have included Grammy and BRIT Awards nominee and Ivor Novello and Mercury Prize winner James Blake whose third hit album The Colour In Anything was released in May and who also co-wrote and produced songs on No. 1 albums this year by Beyonce (Lemonade) and Frank Ocean (Blonde). He also signed Walk The Moon who scored a multi-platinum global hit last year with “Shut Up And Dance”, which was named ASCAP Song of the Year.

His other signings include award-winning Canadian pop duo Tegan & Sara and rap star Vic Mensa who featured on Kanye West’s hit single “Wolves”. Childs is also the founder of management company Quality CTRL whose roster includes Grammy-winning songwriter, artist and producer Jack Antonoff who co-wrote and produced three songs on Taylor Swift’s Grammy Album of the Year 1989, Bleachers, Banks & Steelz, RZA, Moses Sumney and Sam Dew. He was previously at Constant Artists.

Al-Chamaa has been with Sony/ATV since 2014 and has worked with talent including Mike Posner whose 2016 single “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” reached No. 1 in the U.K., was a Top 10 hit around the world and was certified double platinum status in more than 10 territories, including the U.S., U.K, Canada and Australia. He has additionally worked with Brett McLaughlin who co-wrote Troye Sivan’s RIAA-certified platinum single “Youth” and co-penned 11 songs on Daya’s debut album Sit Still, Look Pretty, including the hit single “Hide Away”.

He signed Australian singer-songwriter Ben Abraham who has written with Sara Bareilles, Kesha and Shawn Mendes and whose own debut album Sirens was released by Secretly Canadian in March. He also signed Cara Salimando who is currently working with Grace, Wiz Khalifa, Dua Lipa and Wallpaper. Prior to joining Sony/ATV Al-Chamaa worked for Sony Music, Atlantic Records and LAMM Music Management.

Childs and Al-Chamaa both report into Sony/ATV Co-President, U.S. Rick Krim who said: “Tyler and Lou are both integral parts of the LA A&R team and these promotions reflect the superb work they have been doing. We look forward to even greater things from them in the future.”
