Rat Boy Announced as Vevo’s Newest ‘Lift’ Act

Vevo has revealed Rat Boy as its brand new LIFT act, which will see the musician, real name Jordan Cardy, release a barrage of live performances and behind-the-scenes videos. The announcement comes hot on the heels of a storming Rat Boy set at The Great Escape last month, on the Vevo stage at Wagner Hall. 

Rat Boy, known for his homegrown raps which paint a lyrical and poignant picture of suburban Britain life, follows in the footsteps of the likes of Sam Smith, Blossoms and James Bay who all released their own LIFT videos during their early careers.

The first video is an interview entitled ‘Becoming’, a short film where artists get to tell their story in a unique way, landing on Vevo.com and the Vevo mobile app today. In Rat Boy’s version of the visual documentary, the rising star explores his journey from kitchen musician to one of the most talked about artists of 2017. It includes a bedroom jam session with Rat Boy and his band, a joy ride around town filming YouTube video stunts, an honest look at what ‘DIY’ music means and much more.

Other videos as part of the ongoing LIFT series set to land in the coming weeks include a Vevo exclusive performances from Rat Boy’s forthcoming album – one of which is set where it all began, in a bedroom.  

Launched back in 2011, Vevo’s six-week artist development programme LIFT focuses on giving fans an inside look at the rise of an artist, and a first-hand insight of their persona and projects. Other Vevo LIFT alumni include the likes of Years and Years and Zara Larsson, with Rag ‘N’ Bone Man and Jonas Blue already announced as Vevo LIFT artists for 2017.

As well as making his mark at Brighton’s The Great Escape festival, Rat Boy has also just headlined a UK tour culminating with a bouncing night at London’s The Roundhouse.
