PAUL WELLER SIGNS TO PARLOPHONE RECORDS

Paul Weller, one of the UK’s most successful and influential recording artists, has signed to Parlophone Records. The label, led by Miles Leonard, will release Weller’s next solo album in 2015.

Weller’s success began with seminal British band The Jam, who exploded onto the scene in 1977 and were responsible for many of the records which defined the era, making Weller a key figure within the Mod revival of the 70s and 80s and the voice of a generation for millions of fans. His next band, The Style Council, drew on a variety of musical influences and demonstrated the versatility which has marked Weller out throughout his career.

Embarking on his solo work in 1991, he has since released 11 albums to critical acclaim and commercial success. Winning four BRIT Awards, three for ‘Best British Male Solo Artist’ (1995, 1996 and 2009) and the ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music’ (2006), Paul was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize twice for ‘Wild Wood’ (1994) and ‘Wake Up The Nation’ (2010). Further prestigious award wins include the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ at the Q Awards (2005) and a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award at the Ivor Novello’s (2010).

Weller is the latest signing to the Parlophone label, whose current roster includes Coldplay, Damon Albarn, Lily Allen, David Guetta, Kylie Minogue, Iron Maiden, Becky Hill, Conor Maynard, Tinie Tempah, Two Door Cinema Club, Bat for Lashes and Gabrielle Aplin among others. The label became part of Warner Music Group in 2013.
