PAUL MCCARTNEY RENEWS AGREEMENT WITH ASCAP FOR PUBLIC PERFORMANCES OF HIS SONGS IN THE US

ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that the legendary singer-songwriter Paul McCartney has renewed his agreement with the organization for representation of public performances of his songwriting catalog in the US.

McCartney, known and loved the world over for his Beatles catalog, his hits with Wings and his extensive solo work, has been represented by ASCAP for performing rights in the US for multiple decades. He is currently on tour in North America through October 2016.

McCartney is one of the most pioneering and influential artists of our time, with an unparalleled catalog of music including 32 #1 singles in the US alone; the most of any songwriter in music history. His hitmaking has extended over decades - he recently teamed up with Rihanna and Kanye West on the Top 10 hit, “FourFiveSeconds,” and with West on the 2015 song “All Day,” which earned him two Grammy nominations.

The Beatles also hold a record for being the musical group with the most #1 albums in the US (19). McCartney has received 18 Grammys, an Oscar, 22 NME Awards, and is a Knight in the Order of the British Empire. In 1985, he accepted ASCAP’s most prestigious honor, the ASCAP Founders Award. In addition to his tireless work as a global humanitarian, he is also known as one of the most committed animal rights activists in the world.
