MEREDITH GARDNER & JOSH KAHN PROMOTED AT CAPITOL



Meredith Gardner and Josh Kahn have each been promoted to Vice President of Digital Marketing & Product, Capitol Music Group (CMG), it was announced today by CMG Executive Vice President Greg Thompson. In their elevated positions, Gardner and Kahn will utilize their extensive experience to lead the company's digital strategy, coalesce and galvanize its label-based digital specialists, and insure best practices within the digital space for CMG's portfolio of labels, including Capitol, Virgin, Blue Note, Motown, Harvest and Astralwerks. Gardner and Kahn will report to Thompson and continue to be based in the company's iconic Capitol Tower in Hollywood.

 Gardner has been CMG's Vice President of Digital Marketing since 2013, having joined the company in 2009 as a digital coordinator. She came to CMG from Cornerstone Agency in New York, where she handled digital publicity for clients that included EMI, Warner Bros. , HBO, Hot Topic and Converse. While at Cornerstone, Gardner worked on Katy Perry's debut album, One Of The Boys, which led to her joining Capitol. Throughout her tenure at the company, Gardner has been responsible for digital marketing of Perry's subsequent releases, as well as campaigns for numerous artists, including Beck, Capital Cities, Mary Lambert, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash, My Morning Jacket and many others. 

Kahn first joined Capitol in 2007 as a digital marketer, working on projects that included Katy Perry's debut album, One Of The Boys, Blue Note Record's 70th Anniversary and many others. He managed the Mobile business efforts for RCA Records, beginning in 2009, working on releases for Kelly Clarkson, Ke$ha and Alicia Keys among others. He was elevated to work within Sony Music's Global Digital Business Group in 2011, where, as Associate Director of Digital Product Development, Kahn worked on award-winning apps and games for AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix, among others. Kahn returned to Capitol in 2014 as Head of Digital Design. Kahn began his career in 2001 at the age of 17, managing the online presence of virtual pop band Gorillaz - an association he maintained for the next ten years - which earned the band numerous accolades, including a Webby in 2005.

According to Thompson, "Meredith and Josh bring a wealth of experience to their new positions, and I'm confident they will continue to bring creativity and smarts to our digital campaigns as well as unify our digital and social media experts throughout the company into a cohesive team. I congratulate them both on these well-deserved promotions."
