Final Awardees Announced for Artist and Manager

Awards 2015, sponsored by DICE

The Artist and Manager Awards 2015, sponsored by DICE, are delighted to announce that Placebo are to be this year’s recipient of the Artists’ Artist Award. The band, formed by Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal in London in 1994, are about to complete a hugely successful UK tour.

The band have collaborated selectively, working with David Bowie, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Frank Black amongst others.

All seven Placebo studio albums were made available on streaming services for the first time last month, alongside a compilation of the band’s highly distinctive cover versions. This marks the start of a period of retrospective celebration…

2016 will see the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking and highly influential self-titled debut album, and a series of remastered vinyl reissues begin with an exclusive Record Store Day edition next month, followed by the rest of the catalogue over the next 12 months.

Co-Chair of the FAC Sandie Shaw said ”Placebo represent all that is great about artists today – twenty years of creativity, control of their own destiny, willingness to take risks, all of which has garnered a worldwide sustained career. They are a role model for young artists and an inspiration to us all”.

The Industry Champion Award, sponsored by Youth Music is being awarded to Paul Fenn. Paul has worked in the music industry since he was at school and became an agent soon after. As well as owning the longest established independent agency in the UK (Asgard) he has selflessly worked for the Agents Association and the Concert Promoters Association to the benefit of us all.

MMF CEO Jon Webster commented “Paul Fenn’s experience has benefited hundreds of artists and managers by making sure legislation about live issues passed by Government has been fit for purpose”.

Other winners are:

Artist and Manager Achievement Award (sponsored by Mix Radio) – Ed Sheeran and Stuart Camp.

Writer/Producer Manager (sponsored by BMI) – Jackie Davidson

Entrepreneur (sponsored by Vevo) – Henry Village

Pioneer (sponsored by 7digital) – Imogen Heap

Peter Grant Award (sponsored by PPL) – Jim Beach

The winners of Breakthrough Manager (sponsored by Key Productions) and Breakthrough Artist (sponsored by DICE) will be announced on the night.
