DIG INDEX LAUNCHES AT MUSIC TECHPITCH 4.5

Next generation music-tech winners and startup tracker

The DIG Index, a new index and database tracking the success of music-tech startups, was launched last night at Music TechPitch 4.5.

The DIG Index, short for Deep Innovation Growth Index, has been created together by Rockol, the pure-play web media company focused on music and entertainment, and 2Pears, the team creating opportunities and events to inform, educate and connect entrepreneurs and startups in music, media and technology.

The purpose of the newly created DIG Index is to track the success of music-tech startups and entrepreneurs as they raise funds, grow and prosper, and eventually exit. The aim is for the DIG Index to become the comprehensive music-tech index and database, acting as a point of reference for entrepreneurs, startups, Angel and VC investors, as well as journalists, and government bodies, with regards to any music-tech companies.

The DIG Index is open to any music-tech company to register and provide information about its business proposition and revenue model, funding, geographic location, and founders.

Giampiero Di Carlo, founder and publisher of Rockol, comments: “As a media company we cover and deal with a lot of music-tech startups and having one single point of reference to look up facts makes our life both easier and more interesting. This is why we decided to create the DIG Index together with 2Pears, as we thought it would be useful for a whole host of people in addition to us.”

Petra Johansson, co-founder of 2Pears, adds: “As a business working with startups on a daily basis – we have to date trained over 750 tech startups to pitch their business proposition - we meet a lot of new businesses. By setting up the DIG Index we can now share our knowledge of music-tech startups in the form of a living database. We are very excited to launch the DIG Index together with Rockol in order to continue to grow the community by making information available to a wider audience.”
