Cinram Boosts Music Catalogue with [PIAS]

Home Entertainment supply chain specialist Cinram secures new distribution contract with music company [PIAS]

Third-party logistics expert Cinram has signed a multi-year contract with [PIAS], one of the world’s leading independent music companies, to provide full order to cash fulfillment services from its Aylesbury Distribution Centre.

As Europe’s largest independent music sales, marketing and distribution company, [PIAS] works with such outstanding labels as Beggars Banquet, BMG Rights, Domino and Mute, among others, representing artists including the platinum selling Brit, Grammy and Oscar winner, Adele and multiple Brit Award winning Arctic Monkeys. Founded in 1982, [PIAS] is a company based first and foremost on a genuine passion for the quality of the music and repertoire it represents. It is this passion, shared by Cinram, which directed their choice of supply chain partner.

With [PIAS]’s strong catalogue of titles and artists already profiled into the pickface at Cinram’s DC, the distributor is building on its strong UK music roots and the founding of Oriole Records in 1925. Oriole was the first ever British record label, eventually acquired by CBS in 1964. CBS built Cinram’s facility in Aylesbury, Bucks as its UK vinyl press in the early 1970s and more than 40 years and several corporate acquisitions later, Cinram’s passion for music in all its formats remains. The supply chain company’s automated DC ships thousands of packages direct to store and consumer every day, including to specialist entertainment retailers such as Rough Trade, Piccadilly Records and HMV.

Nick Hartley, COO, [PIAS] said, "We were greatly impressed, not only with the overall knowledge, systems and experience of Cinram, but also their flexibility and determination to provide the highest levels of service in the ever changing market.”

Richard Sefton, Director of Sales, [PIAS] UK comments, "Cinram understands our business very well and we’re looking forward to combining our skills to provide a market leading solution for the artists and labels [PIAS] is proud to work with."

Music is at the very heart of Cinram’s heritage. [PIAS] is therefore a natural fit for us and we are delighted to welcome them and their extensive range of exciting labels as a new client. With both parties’ progressive attitude and passion for the sector, there is great scope and flexibility for us to build on the relationship as the industry evolves”, added Dean Watkins, Business Development Director for Cinram UK.
