‘NAME THAT TUNE’ GOES SOCIAL AS LALILALA LETS EVERYONE SHARE SONGS BY SINGING

08 Aug 2012
Social singing game Lalilala has launched so people can guess the songs their friends are singing to score points and move up the charts.

The FREE to play iOS game – available on iPhones and iPads and powered by leading music streaming service Deezer – enables friends to sing a popular song then send it to a friend, who then has to guess the track in order to score points.

Think that sounds easy? Think again – the app enables people to choose music wherever they are from Deezer’s library of 18 million songs.

Lalilala was one of the winners at the first Deezer music hackathons in Paris. Speaking at the event, Lalilala creator Romain Sion said:

“Music presents limitless creative opportunities to developers, and the Open Deezer platform is a great new opportunity to build amazing experiences around music – that’s what Lalilala is about.”

With 23 million people now using Deezer across 88 markets globally Deezer’s Open Music API offers developers the opportunity to build social experiences around music for millions.

Lalilala takes advantage of a simple set of easy to implement APIs which enable developers to build rich games and applications using the songs within the Deezer music catalogue.

Friends can either pick from a diverse range of obscure tracks, or if they’re feeling kinder, attempt to cover the biggest hits.

The app quickly pulls in a person’s friend list from Facebook, at which point they can choose a song, sing it and send it to a friend.

The recipient then listens to their friend’s recording and guesses the track to earn points before responding with a song of their own.

If people playing the game pick songs currently popular among Deezer subscribers, it is likely we will all be hearing friends’ renditions of We Are Young’s ‘Fun’, Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ and Coldplay’s ‘Princess of China’.

The top ten popular tracks likely to be covered by friends, based on songs currently popular among Deezer subscribers are:

1. We Are Young – Fun
2. Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe
3. Coldplay – Princess of China
4. Train – Hey, Soul Sister
5. Rudimental – Feel the love
6. Conor Maynard – Vegas Girl
7. Train – Drive By
8. Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) – Kelly Clarkson
9. David Guetta - Turn Me On
10. Alex Clare – Too Close

Those tempted to play the game until they have sung all of the songs in Deezer’s catalogue can do so if they wish – but it will take them until 2148.

Lalilala is available for download from the app store
