Sony Music Appoint Alison Donald & Mark Terry As Co-Presidents Columbia records.

LONDON – 25/4/12 – Sony Music today announced the appointment of Alison Donald and Mark Terry as Co-Presidents for Columbia Records, effective May 1st. Replacing outgoing MD Mike Smith, the pair will assume all responsibility for the running of the label and will report to Nick Gatfield.

Donald joined Columbia Records in September 2011 as Senior Director Of A&R and assumed responsibility for all Columbia domestic A&R. Previously she had been Managing Director of Chrysalis Music, where she served for ten years. She signed and was responsible for many hit artists including Laura Marling, Fleet Foxes, Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, Damon Albarn, The Horrors, Cee Lo Green, Rumer, Gnarls Barkley/Dangermouse, Fraser T Smith, The Gossip, Thom Yorke, Bat For Lashes, Pendulum, Johnny Marr, and the Cribs among others.
She was previously Head Of A&R at Warner Chappell Music and signed artists including The Strokes and Gregg Alexander. She also worked for Capital /EMI Records for seven years, ending as Senior Vice President A&R in Los Angeles.

Terry recently served at Atlantic Records as General Manager for two successful years, resulting in Atlantic winning Best Label at the Music Week Awards. Besides steering campaigns for Paulo Nutini and Bruno Mars, he also developed and managed the campaigns that broke Plan B, Rumer, Ed Sheeran and Christina Perri within that time. Previously he worked as Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMI following the acquisition by private equity firm Terra Firma in 2007, where he played a pivotal role in the restructuring and running of the UK labels. Prior to that Terry worked as GM for Virgin Records where he led the campaigns for a wide variety of leading artists such as; Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, The Kooks, Rolling Stones and Katy Perry.
