BPI’S LYNNE MCDOWELL TO LEAVE THE ORGANISATION

BPI’s Head of PR, Lynne McDowell, is set to leave the music organisation at the end of March to develop her own PR company, announced the trade body today.

McDowell joined the BPI in September 2009 as Public Affairs and Communications Executive, climbing the ranks to become Head of PR in 2014.  Working with her colleagues across major and independent record labels, she has driven forward and supported a number of political, communications and CSR initiatives to positively promote the music industry.  More recently, she has taken the lead on delivering the £4m Lottery-funded Big Music Project – driving forward the creation of paid internships in music – and has become a more active female voice within the media on industry issues.

The move will see McDowell remain with the BPI as a PR consultant.

BPI and BRIT Awards Chief Executive, Geoff Taylor, said:

“Lynne's professionalism and dedication were huge assets to the BPI and we are delighted that she will continue to consult for us. We wish her the very best in this new chapter of her career.”

Commenting on her departure, Lynne McDowell said:

“After more than five wonderful years at the BPI, I feel it is time for a new adventure.  Setting up my own PR company feels like the next logical step in my career and I’m excited to already be working with some of my favourite music companies, whilst remaining a consultant for the BPI.  I’d like to thank all my friends in the industry, especially Geoff and my BPI colleagues – past and present – for their support.”

Trading under her own name, McDowell will offer a number of services to companies and charities in the music, film, TV and wider creative sectors, including strategic communications advice, PR support, media services, business development, and project management.  For more information, contact pr@lynne.mcdowell.co.uk
