Business ideas and plans

Over the years we've come up with loads of ideas of things we'd like to do. Some we've started, some are progressing and some are simply too much for us to take on, or are outside our area of expertise to move forward easily.

In the interest of keeping our community up-to-date and as a call for help on some of the harder projects, here's a quick overview of some of those ideas. We don't mind if none of these happen, but it's disappointing if we can't at least resolve whether they are good ideas.

Cafe
We love the idea of a physical space for our subscribers and the public. Everyone tells us running a one-off cafe is really hard and a surefire way of burning through cash. Anyway, we'd love to meet the right person and work on a venue, even a gig venue. Maybe it's a Hard Rock Cafe. But cool.

Germany/France/USA
We haven't looked in to the German market thoroughly, but following a long conversation about the French market we felt it was unlikely RotD would be as successful there as it is in the UK. The industry is smaller and radio doesn't sound especially keen to champion brand new music. There is scope for us to grow in the US, there seems to be a particular interest in the music we feature.

Versions for other industries
We feel a TV and/or film version is worth exploring, and possibly one for books.

Hay-on-Wye
There's a big book convention there every year. Could music have one too? We don't know, but we like the idea of a week in the sun staying in a B&B, seeing bands at night. It's not so much In The City, more In The Country.

There's a few other things we've talked about, but these above are the hardest to get off the ground without outside help. As we said, they may all be impractical, but we'd like to know what you think anyway.
